Since 2017, I have been contracted by Hoonah City Schools to integrate drawing, painting, and other observational art skills into grades K through high school. In elementary school, the primary focus is foundational art skills which the students then use to learn about and document Southeast Alaskan ecology. Older students receive advanced art instruction and use art to deepen their understanding of science topics, Tlingit cultural themes, creative writing, and social studies.
