Freshman

  • Take the PSAT and Pre-ACT (Fall)

  • Continue to take challenging courses

  • Explore volunteer opportunities
  • Ask about dual enrollment for junior year and apply in the spring if interested
  • Explore career exploration resources and scholarship opportunities, depending on your post-graduate plan
Junior
  • Start researching colleges that interest you and check admissions requirements
  • Meet with your counselor to review your high school plan
  • Apply for dual enrollment if interested
  • Start taking free practice tests for ACT and SAT
  • Attend college fairs and financial aid workshops
  • Take the SAT
  • Take the ACT (free to all Juniors in the Spring)
  • Narrow down your list of colleges
  • Continue to pursue volunteer opportunities and extracurricular activities at school
  • Continue a challenging course load
  • Visit colleges over the summer
Senior 
  • Meet with your counselor to review graduation progress and college plans
  • Apply for dual enrollment at University of Alaska Southeast if interested
  • Take SAT or ACT in the Fall
  • Request letters of recommendation early from teachers and counselors
  • Finalize your list of colleges and track their admission requirements
  • Write down all deadlines for college applications
